A cochlear implant (CI) is a surgically implanted electronic device that provides a sense of sound to a person who is profoundly deaf or severely hard of hearing in both ears. Most of the time, Deafness is the loss of ability to hear normally, and there are two types of deafness - conductive and sensory-neural. These can occur separately or together when it is called mixed loss and single (unilateral) or both ears (bilateral) may be involved to varying degrees from mild to profound. Most cases of nerve deafness don’t respond to treatment and may only be helped with hearing Aids or Cochlear Implants.
Eye Surgery (Ophthalmology) & Lasik Eye
There are many eye conditions that require eye care and surgery. Some of the common procedures are cataracts, glaucoma and refractive surgery.
The LASIK surgery is performed by an ophthalmologist who uses a laser or microkeratome to reshape the eye's cornea in order to improve visual acuity. LASIK is most similar to another surgical corrective procedure, photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), and both represent advances over radial keratotomy in the surgical treatment of refractive errors of vision.
